Waterfalls and gorges

Inland, the Basque Country hides spectacular mountain landscapes. The Kakuetta gorges, in the Soule region, with their waterfalls, and the Holzarté footbridge, near Larrau, are among the most impressive natural sites in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques: rock walls, rushing water and lush vegetation.

These excursions take a full day from Biarritz and call for good walking shoes: the trails are of easy to moderate level, but some sections are wet and slippery. Conditions vary with the season.
